With a little help from my team, we came up with more than 6 great things about cross country! Now if I was actually listing everything then I would have about 46 things. Yeah. That would be a lot. So instead, I’m listing 6.
Number One: Out of everything this was said the most. Friends and I agree with them. We all opened up to each other, by like the third practice we were all together 24/7 we could run together, talk, laugh, cry together (yes I’m serious) together just in this season. Number Two: Teamwork. The way we worked together as a team was unbelievable, we had goals set every race. The goals were, what specific team we had to try to beat, who to pass, our times. We would all hype each other up, it was a very positive atmosphere.
Number 3: The Improvements, this was mentioned by most of our team. When it got closer to the end of the season we all had a new personal record. And we were all 100 times better. Practice-paid off I guess. Number 4: You will be surprised about this one but Messing around is one great thing about cross country. We could run wherever we wanted around the school. On recovery days we all would run together and goof off together when running.
Number 5: Socializing or Inside Jokes. During practices, before practices, on the bus, and even before races we would all get together and talk about how our school day went and what happened, or some talked about old memories. And during all the talking we would make inside jokes out of what we talked about and what went on around us. This one day a girl brought milk in a bag. We made so many funny, amazing memories. Number 6: The best part about cross country The shirts, medals (ribbons), and trophies that you get. Every race they have a stand where you can buy your own t-shirt or sweatshirt from the race you ran! Top 15/20/25 would get medals and ribbons! Then unlike most middle school or high school sports, you get giant trophies if your team does very well!
And that’s 6 great things about cross country. So are you thinking of running now? I found this picture on Unsplash!
I have some goals for myself so I thought I could share them. So, If you didn’t know already I am a cross country runner, and I also do the long distances in track too. While racing on the team I was the third and second girl and in my best race in total, I got second place. One of my biggest goals is to (in the seventh grade) break into the five-minute mile, yes I’m trying to get a five-minute mile. I really want to try to push myself to get faster and stronger.
Another goal is, for cross country is to get the record for the first girl in the two miles. So I have to beat the time of 12:42, my fastest time this year was 13:49 on one of the hardest courses, and I’m only a seventh-grader. I’m only 1 minute and 7 seconds away. Oh, I also am trying to get together a cross country team, we had a whole team this year only because there were five eighth-graders and only two seventh-graders… But the eighth graders are going into high school so they won’t be on our middle school team. I am working hard to recruit others in the school to build up our team.
I’m going to list some other smaller goals,
- I really want to start and produce a successful business I really want to be a chef who makes top of the line tacos and smoothies to try to make money for my trip… Down below
- I would also really like to get a pet lizard soon.
A goal for me is to try to go to 40 states (or at least 35). I have been to 33 states in total and also out of the U.S. I went to Japan! I haven’t been to a few western/midwestern states, but my family is planning some trips. I want to go back to Japan again… So I guess, another goal is to raise 1500 dollars to afford a plane ticket! That’s a lot but I’m already halfway there! Did you know the picture that I used was from Unsplash? It’s a photo website with a whole bunch of free pictures from different people who create them. I picked a running photo because I thought it went well with the theme of the first paragraph. Now that I listed some goals I want to try to reach them! Wish me luck!
What are you thankful for? I’m thankful for the food that we have and the roof keeping us protected and warm from the chilly November nights. It’s almost that time of year. Almost time for Turkey, pumpkin pie, loads and loads of great food, and family time… (depending on how Covid 19 is affecting us). I am so excited to get a week off from school. Sometimes us smart hard-working kids need a nice long break. My family and I are thinking of going to my family member’s houses to eat ham, turkey, cranberry sauce, pie. Play games like bingo, monopoly, and card games. I also get to see some of my cousins that I have not been able to see for quite some time! Thanksgiving is two weeks away! I made this picture using Canva. Check it out!
